Katindi & Co. considers the community as an essential part of us, and as a team we understand the practice of law and our role, in a much broader social context.
Everyone at Katindi & Co. plays a role in our pro bono practice. Our lawyers spend time each year providing free legal services to individuals who cannot otherwise afford a lawyer and organizations that qualify for pro bono assistance. Our lawyers have the opportunity to be involved in providing much needed assistance to low income and disadvantaged individuals, families and non-profits from their first day with the firm.
We focus on four areas where our pro bono work can have the biggest impact:
Providing free legal advice to disadvantaged individuals: We develop and manage clinics to serve individuals in our communities providing legal advice and casework. We also appreciate that safe custody of crucial documents is a big challenge for vulnerable individuals and we provide storage of Agreements, Wills, Property Titles and other important legal documents.
Supporting human rights work: We collaborate with human rights charities and non-governmental organizations, in the delivery of their work. This ranges from representing marginalized communities in court to undertaking research projects to inform policy work. We also deliver training for (and with) our clients for human rights compliance and legal literacy.

The firm leverages our Founder’s entrepreneurial skills and NGO expertise in helping start-ups in social enterprises and microfinance institutions in dealing with the regulatory, compliance and other challenges they face. We have community service days when locals can come in for legal assistance.
Giving back to the communities where we live and work is a priority at katindi and co. We encourage our team to take an active role in society, by contributing legal and non-legal skills to several worthy causes with a focus on health issues supporting women and children.

Although we are a small firm, we are conscious of our impact on the environment. In keeping with the Firm’s Environmental policy, we make our small contribution in ensuring our business is more eco-friendly. We encourage everyone at the firm to participate and to propose ideas for reducing our impact on the environment.
